Two people were killed in separate homicides over the weekend in Northeast Washington, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

One man was fatally shot in the Carver Langston neighborhood around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Police found 36-year-old Steven Curtis Moore, of Northwest, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the 1100 block of 21st Street. He died at a local hospital.

Several hours later, early Sunday morning, police responded to the nearby Kingman Park neighborhood for a report of an unconscious female. Officers found 47-year-old Elaine Coleman, of Northeast, suffering from stab wounds inside a building in the 500 block of 23rd Place. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are looking for suspects in both homicides.

Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Officer Tisha Gant said the department has no indication the homicides are related.
