WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama _ husband, father of two _ says he’s “not big” on poking into a candidate’s personal life.
That would take one issue off the table if he were to face Newt Gingrich in next year’s general election presidential contest.
Gingrich’s three marriages and acknowledged infidelity have been topics on the lips of his Republican presidential opponents as the former House speaker rises to the top of the GOP field.
But in an interview Thursday with ABC’s Barbara Walters, Obama says the election should focus on the substantial issue differences between him and Republicans.
Said Obama: “I’m not big on someone’s personal lives being poked and prodded and that ends up being the primary issue.”
