PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) - Amazon.com Inc. founder and CEO Jeff Bezos and his wife, MacKenzie Bezos, have donated $15 million to their alma mater, Princeton University, to create a new center in the Princeton Neuroscience Institute.

Princeton said Tuesday that the Bezos’ donation will go toward the Bezos Center for Neural Circuit Dynamics, which will work to build knowledge of the brain.

The center will look for treatments for neurological disorders, study how the brain works and how its operations affect behavior and investigate how children can learn effectively.

Institute co-Director David Tank will lead the new center. It will be in a complex on Princeton’s campus that is expected to be up and running in summer 2013.

Both Jeff and MacKenzie attended Princeton as undergraduates. He graduated in 1986 and she in 1992.
