RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) - Former Brazil striker Ronaldo has accepted an invitation to join the country’s 2014 World Cup organizing committee.

His appointment was announced at a news conference on Thursday by Ricardo Teixeira, president of the Brazilian soccer federation. Teixeira and Ronaldo are two of the three members on the committee. The third is yet to be appointed.

Ronaldo, who retired in February, says he will be the voice of the committee and won’t receive a salary.
