Schwarzenegger’s shirt: ’I survived Maria’
Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was spotted this weekend wearing a shirt that was less than flattering to estranged wife Maria Shriver.
While biking in Santa Monica, TMZ reported, Mr. Schwarzenegger sported a white T-shirt with the words “It’s time” on the front and “I survived Maria” across the back.
The California first lady’s staff had created and distributed the shirts as a joke for a November farewell party for Mr. Schwarzenegger’s staff, according to TMZ. The shirts also read “2007-2010,” the length of the governor’s term in office, but the one presented to Mr. Schwarzenegger had the “2007” crossed out, replaced by “1977,” the year Mr. Schwarzenegger and Ms. Shriver started dating.
Ms. Shriver separated from Mr. Schwarzenegger after 25 years of marriage this May when it was revealed that he had fathered a child with the couple’s former housekeeper. She filed for divorce on July 1, citing irreconcilable differences.
As the couple repeatedly has said they are on good terms and the divorce is proceeding smoothly, Mr. Schwarzenegger’s fashion statement attracted attention, with critics questioning whether wearing the shirt was a wise move.
Kanye West: ’People look at me like I’m Hitler’
Most sensible folks would do anything to avoid an Adolf Hitler comparison, but rapper Kanye West, known for making wildly offensive statements, is hardly a normal guy.
Performing at the Big Chill music festival in England over the weekend, the “All of the Lights” singer complained about how others treat him in an on-stage rant.
“And once again I wake up, and I’m a monster,” Mr. West said. “And I walk through the hotel and I walk down the street and people look at me like I’m [expletive] insane, like I’m Hitler.”
But Mr. West, who was brutally criticized in 2009 for interrupting country songbird Taylor Swift’s MTV Video Music Award acceptance speech, said outsiders will someday figure him out.
“One day, one day a light will shine through and one day people will understand everything I ever did, ever said, was to throw myself on the blade for the sake of someone else, for the sake of people,” Mr. West said.
According to TMZ, which obtained footage from the music festival, the 34-year-old recording artist continued, “Michael Jordan changed so much in basketball, he took his power to make a difference. It’s so much [expletive] going on in music right now and somebody has to make a [expletive] difference.”
Mom of French model, 10, shuts down Facebook page
The mother of young French model Thylane Loubry Blondeau, whose risque Vogue photo shoot ignited a debate about the media’s over-sexualization of youth last week, has shut down her 10-year-old daughter’s Facebook group and is speaking out about the scandal.
According to Blackbook magazine, the child’s mom, Veronika Loubry, closed the online group over the weekend and left a post on the wall of the Facebook fan page.
Miss Loubry, a French entertainment reporter-turned-fashion designer, wrote a somewhat incoherent message about closing the fan site until the “buzz” on Thylane fades.
“hey guys im the mum of thylane something going ’s wrong at the moment with thylane and bad personn in usa about pictures she make’s 8 months ago for vogue ,,thylane doesn’t know about the buzz and i want to protect her from the deapest of my heart,” Miss Loubry wrote on the Facebook page.
Miss Loubry sent good wishes to Thylane’s fans for appreciating the model-to-be’s work.
“she’s so young ,, so we are going to close this accompte for a while ,,i know all of you are good person who like her so i send you a big kiss,,thanks,” she wrote.
Penny Nance, CEO of Concerned Women for America, told the Daily Caller that Thylane’s parents never should have let their daughter pose like a grown woman and shoot seductive looks at the camera.
“The issue isn’t that she has a Facebook page, but that her parents have allowed her to be photographed as an adult,” Miss Nance said in response to news that the Facebook page has been shut down. “Those photos are a disgusting sexualization of the child.”
Last week, Thylane’s Vogue Paris fashion spread received predominantly negative worldwide attention for its provocative photographs.
Koa Beck, deputy editor of Mommyish.com, told ABC’s “Good Morning America” last week that these photos force readers to look at the 10-year-old in a racy manner.
“I think that I’m seeing a very young girl being sexualized, being gazed at in a very adult way,” Miss Beck said on the show.
