A woman was found fatally stabbed Monday morning outside the Old Post Office Pavilion, five blocks from the White House, Metropolitan police said.

The woman, who was not identified Monday night, was found at about 6:20 a.m. in the 1100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Northwest.

Police were called to the scene to investigate the report of an unconscious person. They found the woman, suffering from apparent stab wounds.

D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel determined that the woman had no signs of life.
