A person with knowledge of the negotiations says the Cleveland Browns have reached agreement with Pro Bowl offensive tackle Joe Thomas on a long-term contract extension.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on Monday on condition of anonymity because the deal has not yet been signed. The Browns did not return a phone call.
Thomas was entering the final year of the rookie contract he signed after being taken with the No. 3 overall selection in the 2007 draft.
Thomas has made the Pro Bowl in each of his four seasons and is regarded as one of the NFL’s best left tackles.
Last week, Thomas said he was excited about the direction the Browns were headed under first-year coach Pat Shurmur.
