Kim Kardashian ties knot with NBA player Humphries
“Keeping Up with the Kardashians” reality star Kim Kardashian got hitched Saturday to NBA player Kris Humphries in Montecito, Calif., reports Us Weekly.
Miss Kardashian, who announced her engagement to the athlete less than three months ago, had been dating Mr. Humphries for six months before he decided to put a ring on it. This is Miss Kardashians second marriage. Sisters and fellow “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” stars Kourtney and Khloe were co-maids of honor, while younger sisters Kendall and Kylie, and Kris sister Kaela served as bridesmaids.
Stepfather Bruce Jenner reportedly walked the 30-year-old bride down the aisle in front of 440 guests. Kardashians biological father died in 2003.
According to Us Weekly, the ceremony was flooded with celebrity attendees, including “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest, “Smurfs” actor George Lopez, pop sensation Ciara, “Desperate Housewives” actress Eva Longoria, singer Demi Lovato, and Fox News host Greta Van Susteren.
According to Us Weekly, the newlyweds got their cake from Hansen Cakes in Tinseltown for $15,000 to $20,000. The wedding ceremony will air as a two-part special on E! in the fall.
HBO in discussions for ’Sex and the City’ prequel
If youve been missing new “Sex and the City” episodes since the show ended in 2004, youre about to get lucky.
According to Entertainment Weekly, HBO is searching for a network to carry a “Sex and the City” prequel series, which would be based off author Candace Bushnells prequel novel.
“Discussions are under way for ’The Carrie Diaries, Candace Bushnells book about Carrie Bradshaws high school years, to find a home as a potential television series,” an HBO representative confirmed.
This news comes after several months of rumors on a possible prequel film or series based on “The Carrie Diaries,” which follows Carrie before she becomes the iconic New York City sex columnist that we know from the racy television show. The book takes readers through Carries senior year of high school, first serious relationship, thoughts on moving to the Big Apple and friendship betrayal.
In June, the Daily Caller sat down with Miss Bushnell and asked if she foresaw a “Sex and the City” prequel film in the near future. The writer hinted that a television show was a possibility. “Definitely something on the screen,” she said. “Big or small screen.”
When the Daily Caller inquired about potential actresses for a prequel adaptation, Ms. Bushnell expressed an interest in Disney star Selena Gomez portraying goody-two-shoes character Charlotte York.
“Im going to get into trouble for this, but I was looking at some pictures of Selena Gomez today and thinking ’shed make a really good young Charlotte, ” Bushnell said. “Shes so pretty. I was like … ’Gosh, wouldnt she be great?’ Am I right or wrong? Im not good at this. If I say something like that, then the next thing I know, people are like, no!”
MTV calls A&F request ’a clever PR stunt’
MTV delivered a somewhat diplomatic response to Abercrombie & Fitchs recent request that the “Jersey Shore” cast not wear the companys products.
Earlier this week, A&F said in a statement that the preppy retailer had offered a “substantial” amount of money to “Jersey Shore” cast member Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and his co-stars to not sport the brand on air, as Mr. Sorrentinos reputation could damage the apparels image.
Apparently unperturbed by the slight and open to collaborating with A&F, MTV said of the clothing vendor in a statement, “Its a clever PR stunt, and wed love to work with them on other ways they can leverage ’Jersey Shore’ to reach the largest youth audience on television.”
But “Jersey Shore” legends Mr. Sorrentino and Vinny Guadagnino fired back at A&F in a much less eloquent manner.
“#lasttimeiworeabercrombie I still hadnt discovered masturbation,” Mr. Guadagnino tweeted Wednesday, following up with another tweet, “#lasttimeIworeabercrombie there were still stores in NY to buy it at.”
Mr. Sorrentino kept it clean with the tweet, “Looks like Abercrombie got themself into a Situation,” which linked to a story about A&F stock dropping in the “Jersey Shore” diss aftermath.
Since exploding onto the airwaves in 2009, “Jersey Shore” has been blasted by many for glamorizing crass behavior, heavy alcohol use, stupidity, Italian-American stereotypes, and casual sex. The show, which follows the hard-partying lives of housemates on the actual Jersey shore, has earned the network record ratings but taken trashy TV to new heights.
Survey: Washington attracts ’high estrogen men
Disgusted by late night text messages, embarrassing blow-offs, and never receiving the phone call you were promised? Leading dating site Chemistry.com has a list of the top 10 cities full of romantic, expressive, “high estrogen” men who probably wouldnt slip into cad territory.
Though bursting with government employees, politicians, political journalists, and all things polarizing and serious, Washington D.C. is 10th on the list, nine spots below perpetually romantic San Francisco.
Asked how bureaucratic, soulless Washington ever earned a spot on a list of romantic cities, Chemistry.coms Helen Fisher told the Daily Caller that D.C. draws a lot of sensitive men who are concerned about the state of the world.
“An awful lot of [educated] people wind up in Washington, I think. And, I think a lot of the not-for-profits pull in a lot of the high-estrogen types who really sort of care about the state of the planet and the state of the polar bears and the state of the United States,” the anthropologist told the DC, adding that 10 million people were surveyed for the list. “So Im not surprised that Washington does attract men who are sort of the big, broad, long-view thinkers who are good with verbal and people skills. I think Washington is a town that thrives on that. Along with that, they tend to be more romantic.”
Keeping with the Washington theme, Ms. Fisher said former President Bill Clinton is a high-estrogen, emotionally aware person.
“I think that Bill Clinton is a good example of a high-estrogen man,” Ms. Fisher explained, noting that he cried at his daughters wedding while his wife, Secretary of State Hillary Rodman Clinton, did not.
Ms. Fisher added that these men are usually liberal, which is right in line with many Washingtonians political leanings. “Theres no question about it that high-estrogen people tend to be more liberal, and they are also more romantic,” she said. “But I think they both stem from their biology, from their inherited activity of estrogen.”
