MORRISON, Ill. — President Barack Obama has gotten off the bus for another surprise stop in the Midwest — this time, at a county fair.

The president was making a quick visit Wednesday morning at the Whiteside County Fair in northwest Illinois, a local celebration that has been taking place for more than 140 years.

Although the fair was lightly attended in the morning hours, Obama mingled with people who were judging a cow competition.

Obama is en route to a town hall-style meeting further south in Atkinson, Ill., and he will be having a second one later Wednesday in Alpha, Ill.

Obama’s campaign-style bus tour took him to Minnesota and Iowa before Illinois, the state he represented as a U.S. senator before becoming president.
