OPINION:
It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. This adage is aptly shown in the front-page photograph that accompanied the article headlined “Obama can’t stop market slide” (Tuesday).
In the image, Mr. Obama stands before a portrait of Abraham Lincoln, who faces right. Mr. Obama faces left at the podium, looking at a loss. While Lincoln had the foresight to cast aside those who were not dynamic enough to win the Civil War, Mr. Obama has gathered around him advisers with no clue what is going on. Lincoln was from humble beginnings and had little education but could tell right from wrong. Mr. Obama went to Harvard but seems unable to find his head with both hands.
The photo makes me wonder whether Lincoln would be thinking, “What am I doing in a photo with this guy?”
