OWINGS MILLS, MD. (AP) - The Baltimore Ravens selected University of Maryland wide receiver Torrey Smith and offensive tackle Jah Reid of Central Florida on the second night of the NFL draft.
The Ravens were delighted to get Smith in the second round with the 58th overall pick. The fleet-footed Smith left Maryland after his junior season, yet still ranked third in school history with 152 catches and second in the record book with 2,215 yards receiving.
Baltimore general manager Ozzie Newsome says Smith provides the team with the deep threat that was missing last year.
The Ravens liked the 6-foot-7, 330-pound Reid enough to make a trade with Philadelphia to move up in the third round to get him. The Ravens gave up their third-round pick (90th overall) and a sixth-round selection, the 191st pick.
