I am a Democrat who wants President Obama impeached and removed from office for the high crime of violating the War Powers Act by ordering American forces to attack a country that was at peace with us without first consulting Congress.

Mr. Obama ordered American military forces to attack Libya in support of one side of an internal civil war. Not only did Mr. Obama break the law by doing this, but he put all Americans at risk because of his arrogance toward Congress and U.S. law.

In 1986, Libyan agents bombed a nightclub in Berlin to kill and wound American service members and others at the nightclub. In 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 was destroyed with a bomb over Lockerbie, Scotland. Of the 270 people who died, 190 were Americans. Only one of several Libyan agents was caught and convicted.

But America’s military retaliation and diplomatic pressure have discouraged Libya’s dictator from harming more Americans with bombs - until now.

Mr. Obama’s decision to side with rebels in a civil war in Libya was ill-advised. It will encourage the Libyan government to renew its efforts to bomb Americans around the world. Mr. Obama reignited the Libyan government’s desire to harm Americans.

How many more young Americans and American service members will be killed or maimed by Libyan bombs at nightclubs because of Mr. Obama’s illegal actions?

We should show the world - and especially Libya - that the American people and Congress do not approve of Mr. Obama’s illegal action. That might be the only thing that would encourage the Libyan government to refrain from renewing its attacks against Americans.
