Lohan tapes segment for ’Tonight Show’

Lindsay Lohan pretaped an appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” on Monday that was to air on Tuesday’s show, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The actress says she is still set to play John Gotti Jr.’s wife, Kim, in the upcoming “Gotti: Three Generations” despite her legal woes. On Friday, she was sentenced to 120 days in jail and 480 hours of community service for violating probation by allegedly swiping a necklace from a Venice, Calif., jewelry shop.

She said she thought the sentence was “shocking” and it left her “kind of numb,” according to the Associated Press.

She reportedly received a standing ovation from the studio audience.

Her appearance bumped a scheduled guest, Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth, to a later show.

’Glee’ gets big welcome in Big Apple

Talk about a cool class trip.

The cast of “Glee” is in New York City this week to film its season two finale, and Mayor Michael Bloomberg welcomed the stars of the Fox show with a news conference outside the Gershwin Theater, one of its filming locations, the Associated Press reports.

“Mayors don’t get a lot of time to watch television, so I don’t know much about this season’s plot, but actually it would be great to see what happens with Finn and Rachel,” joked Mr. Bloomberg, referring to two of the show’s characters who are in an on-again, off-again romantic relationship.

In the final episode of the season, the students will go to New York for a national glee club competition. The show is to film all week in the city at landmarks such as Central Park and Lincoln Center.

“We’ve been filming ’Glee’ in Los Angeles for two years. We’ve never met the mayor there,” said one of the show’s executive producers, Dante Di Loreto.

Dozens of fans lined up outside the theater to get a glimpse of actors from the show. Cory Monteith and Mark Salling were among those who appeared at the news conference.

The “Glee” season finale will air at 9 p.m. May 24.

New Olbermann show to launch June 20

Keith Olbermann’s CurrentTV show will launch June 20, the network announced Tuesday, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The show will be called “Countdown With Keith Olbermann,” the same name it carried on MSNBC, which he departed in January. It will air at 8 p.m. weeknights.

Mr. Olbermann announced his appointment as chief news officer of Al Gore’s CurrentTV in February.

“Nothing is more vital to a free America than a free media, and nothing is more vital to my concept of a free media than news produced independently of corporate interference,” he said at the time.

Mark Rosenthal, CEO of Current, says the show “will combine familiar and popular features with some new elements that we can’t wait to unveil. We’re creating a great platform for Keith’s style, which includes a very sophisticated digital presence for him - that we think will appeal to his very enthusiastic and active following.

“The show will also appeal to new viewers tuning into Keith for the first time.”

Hollywood baby report: James, Collette add sons

The King of Queens has his prince.

Kevin James and his wife, Steffiana, welcomed their first son, Kannon Valentine James, on Easter Sunday in Boston, his rep confirmed to People magazine.

Kannon joins big sisters Sienna-Marie, 5, and Shea, 3.

Mr. James, 45, starred on the long-running sitcom “The King of Queens” and recently appeared in “The Dilemma” with Vince Vaughn. He’ll next be seen in “Zookeeper.”

Also welcoming a son are Toni Collette and her husband, David Galafassi.

The star of Showtime’s “The United States of Tara” gave birth Friday in Australia, her rep told People.

“Toni Collette, her husband David Galafassi and their daughter Sage Galafassi are excited and proud to announce the arrival of their baby boy, Arlo Robert Galafassi,” the rep says.

“He was born on Good Friday making it the greatest Friday, indeed!” the couple said in a statement.

Ms. Collette was understandably absent from Saturday’s premiere of her new movie “Jesus Henry Christ” at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on Saturday.

“She is doing well,” the film’s director Dennis Lee told People on the red carpet.

Ms. Collette married musician Galafassi in 2003. Their daughter, Sage, is 3.

Food Network’s Fieri pushes family meals

Guy Fieri was back on the road Monday, this time not to find hole-in-the-wall eateries, but to support California politicians telling parents to cook with their children every Sunday.

Standing outside the state capitol, the celebrity chef lamented the rise of drive-thrus and microwave dinners in place of sit-down, home-cooked meals.

Mr. Fieri, known for his boisterous style in the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives,” said that by making cooking a shared activity, parents could bring their families closer together and encourage healthy eating habits in children.

“Let them stand there and work the saute pan, let them do the plate up, let them deliver it to the family,” said Mr. Fieri, sporting his trademark platinum blond hair, cowboy boots and sunglasses worn on the back of his head. “Start them off slow. Educate them as you go.”

He went on to visit the state senate, which adopted a resolution urging the weekly meals, as well as the assembly, where the resolution now awaits action.

The resolution by Republican state Sen. Anthony Cannella follows a 2008 initiative that Mr. Fieri helped draft to label the second Saturday in May “Cook With Your Kids Day.”

’Paul Reiser Show’ axed after airing 2 episodes

NBC has yanked “The Paul Reiser Show” after just two little-watched airings.

The comedy, which attempted a TV comeback for the former star of “Mad About You,” attracted a dismal 3.4 million viewers to its premiere. That same week, TV’s highest-rated comedy, “Modern Family” on ABC, had 9.6 million viewers.

The “Reiser” audience then dropped last week to 2.4 million viewers.

NBC says it will air repeats of “The Office” in the time slot - 8:30 p.m. Thursdays - for the final month of the TV season.
