FORT WASHINGTON

Man found on fire at group home dies

Prince George’s County officials say a 67-year-old man died over the weekend after he was found on fire at a Fort Washington group home.

Fire department spokesman Mark Brady says a caretaker was alerted by a smoke alarm Saturday morning, then found the man on fire in his room in the home, on the 2800 block of Cricklewood Drive.

The unidentified man was taken to the burn unit at Washington Hospital Center in critical condition with second- and third-degree burns to nearly 80 percent of his body. He died Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Brady says investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire, but one possible factor is that the man was a smoker.
