MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Lynx have signed Maya Moore, the first pick in this year’s WNBA draft.
The team announced the signing on Thursday. Terms were not disclosed.
Moore won two national championships at Connecticut, a four-time All-American who averaged 22.8 points this season. She also was the only collegian to play on the U.S. women’s national team that won a gold medal at the world championships in October.
Moore was part of a record 90-game winning streak during her college career. She joins a Lynx team that has made the playoffs just twice since entering the league in 1999.
Moore’s first on-court action with the Lynx will come on May 24, an exhibition game against the Indiana Fever. Minnesota’s regular season begins June 3 at Los Angeles, followed by a home game against the Sparks on June 5.
