Mayor Vincent C. Gray is still wearing his bracelet.

The plastic band has a red tag marked “3,” the same number Mr. Gray wore in youth sports, to designate his place in line to retrieve personal property Monday, after the U.S. Capitol Police booked him and five council members for blocking traffic in protest of a congressional budget that they say takes a swipe at D.C. autonomy.

“This is my symbol of being locked up,” Mr. Gray said Wednesday at his weekly press briefing. “There were 41 of these issued.”

“I’ll keep wearing it for a while,” he added. “Maybe I’ll keep it ’til the next time I get locked up and have a new one.”

Council Member Michael A. Brown, one of the legislators swept up by the police, had a large turquoise watch on his wrist Wednesday, but no bracelet. He said he plans to have it framed and mounted, instead.
