MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Target Field will host Major League Baseball’s RBI World Series the next two years.

The RBI program is geared toward getting more young people in urban areas playing baseball and softball. It stands for Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities.

Yankees ace CC Sabathia, Red Sox outfielder Carl Crawford and Dodgers outfielder James Loney are among the professional baseball players who participated in the program as kids.

The 2011 tournaments for baseball and softball will be held Aug. 2-14 at various ballparks throughout the Twin Cities. The baseball championship games will be played at Target Field.

Twenty-four teams from around the country will come to the Twin Cities for the event.
