OAKLAND, CALIF. (AP) - All-Star pitcher Trevor Cahill and the Oakland Athletics have reached agreement on a new five-year contract.

The 23-year-old righty is 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA in two starts this season.

The Athletics announced the deal on Monday. Oakland was in Chicago to play the White Sox.

Cahill’s contract will take him through the 2015 season. The deal includes club options for 2016 and 2017.

Cahill is 29-21 lifetime and was an All-Star last year.
