The Capitals (and fans) have been waiting for this day for almost a year – the chance to open a new playoff season. That day is Wednesday, as the Caps open their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series against the Rangers at 7:30 p.m. at Verizon Center.

Game 1 will be broadcast nationally on Versus as well as locally on CSN. Game 2 is set for Friday night at 7:30.

The series shifts to Madison Square Garden beginning Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. – a game that can be seen on NBC. Game 4 is Wednesday night from the Garden.

Games 5, 6 and 7 (* if necessary) will be the following Saturday, Monday and Wednesday.
