BALTIMORE | A steady rain forced postponment of Thursday night’s game between the Detroit Tigers and Baltimore Orioles.
The teams will play a single-admission doubleheader Friday, beginning at 4:30 p.m. The second game will begin 20 minutes after the first.
It will be Detroit’s second doubleheader in three days. The Tigers lost both games at Cleveland on Wednesday and are mired in a three-game losing streak.
The series, scheduled for four games through Sunday, is the final one of the season for both teams. Baltimore played its final road game of the year Wednesday against Tampa Bay.
The Orioles will start Chris Tillman (1-5) in the first game Friday, and Jeremy Guthrie (10-14) will pitch in the nightcap. Rookie Brian Matusz (9-12) will start Saturday and Brad Bergesen (8-11) will pitch in the finale Sunday.
Baltimore (63-95) needs two more wins to surpass last year’s total. The Tigers (80-78) must win at least twice to finish with a winning record.
