OWINGS MILLS, Md. | Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice did not practice Wednesday because of a bruised right knee.
His absence left open the possibility that Willis McGahee will start against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
McGahee says he’s “up for the challenge.” But he expects Rice to play.
Rice walked in the locker room Wednesday without a noticeable limp, but the Ravens would not let him talk to the media.
Although McGahee hasn’t started a game since last October, he’s put up some impressive numbers as Rice’s backup, scoring 14 touchdowns last year and averaged five yards a carry.
Regardless of who starts, the Ravens (2-1) should have their hands full against the unbeaten Steelers (3-0) in this AFC North showdown.
