CARDIFF, WALES (AP) - The U.S. and European Ryder Cup captains predict the trophy will be won by a single putt on the final day.
The U.S. team arrived in Wales on Monday for the Ryder Cup, which starts Friday at Celtic Manor.
The Americans are defending the trophy following their home win at Valhalla in 2008, but the European team is considered the favorite.
U.S. captain Corey Pavin and European captain Colin Montgomerie both said the result could come down to a single putt during Sunday’s singles matches.
Pavin says “it’s going to be very competitive _ it’s going to come down to who makes the putts.”
Tiger Woods and the U.S. team are trying to win the Ryder Cup on foreign soil for the first time since 1993.
