DAVIE, FLA. (AP) - Tight end Mickey Shuler has been awarded off waivers to the Miami Dolphins.
Shuler practiced with the Dolphins on Friday, two days after he was released by the Minnesota Vikings. Shuler was inactive for the Vikings’ first two games this season.
The 6-foot-4, 247-pound Shuler was the Vikings’ seventh-round pick this year.
Shuler made 13 starts at Penn State, where his father, also named Mickey, was a star tight end before a 14-year career in the NFL. The Dolphins had a slot open on their 53-man roster, and did not have to make a corresponding move to add Shuler.
