In the recent article “Obama jabs GOP, promotes jobs program” (Web, News, Monday) about the president’s Labor Day speech in Milwaukee, Mr. Obama is reported as acknowledging that the past eight months of modest private-sector job growth have not been enough to bring down the unemployment rate.

He is quoted as saying, “Now here’s the honest truth, the plain truth. There’s no silver bullet, there’s no quick fix to these problems.” He then added that it will take time to “reverse the damage of a decade worth of policies” that caused the recession. I have heard it reported from various sources that the president has invoked the “no silver bullet” excuse more than 60 times in the past six months.

I would like to set the record straight once and for all. There is a silver bullet that will eliminate federal binge spending, set the nation back on the path to a healthy economy, end congressional and administration arrogance and put a stop to the destruction of our personal economic freedom and the destruction of the sovereignty of the states.

It is Nov. 2, 2010.
