ST. PAUL, MINN. (AP) - Minnesota Wild center Mikko Koivu says his surgically repaired right shoulder and right knee are in good shape and he is on track for training camp.
Koivu had the operations in April, and the shoulder required four months of rehabilitation after the repair of his torn labrum. Koivu said Friday he is ready to practice at full speed, pending final approval from the team doctor.
Center Pierre-Marc Bouchard has been on the ice skating and scrimmaging with other players in his progression from post-concussion problems. Bouchard and the team are talking about a plan for easing him back into practice before he’s ready for full contact.
The Wild also hired former player Darby Hendrickson as an assistant coach. The 38-year-old Hendrickson was on the Wild’s original team in the 2000-01 season, playing four years for his hometown team.
