OPINION:
The recent Wikileaks Iraq war-data dump was meant, apparently, to embarrass the Pentagon, do some damage to our national security and expose our armed forces to the possibility of new enemy attacks.
The leaks were reportedly well-received by the mainstream media with the intent to cast blame, create scandal and propagate narratives about civilian casualties in the Iraq war. Unfortunately for the hate-America crowd, the leaked Iraq war and civilian casualty information against the Pentagon is underwhelming. Also, inconvenient truths about previous, false rhetoric were revealed about the actual existence of Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction (WMD) program and Iranian operations in Iraq against U.S. armed forces.
The release of the classified Wikileaks documents makes the U.S. look defenseless against treason by a young military analyst and the subsequent conduct of cyberwarfare by persons in Sweden against our troops in the combat zone. The Obama administration should strongly protest the conduct of Wikileaks and request action against the perpetrators by the Swedish government. Our Justice Department should bring individual charges against all persons involved, including Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.
