JEFFERSON CITY, MO. (AP) - Gov. Jay Nixon is urging government leaders, educators, public safety officials and businesses to work together to expand high-speed Internet access in Missouri.
The governor spoke Tuesday at Jefferson City hotel during a two-day summit on broadband Internet.
Nixon says making high-speed access more available in Missouri will help education, health care, emergency management and business.
Missouri entities have received more than $200 million in federal stimulus funds for broadband Internet.
Nixon says a network for high-speed Internet is vital for economic development.
