LONDON (AP) - The specially modified supercar driven by secret agent James Bond in such films as “Goldfinger” and “Thunderball” is set to be auctioned in London.
The silver Aston Martin DB5 coupe will go under the hammer Wednesday at the RM Auctions Automobiles of London auction. Auctioneers expect the car to fetch around 3.5 million pounds ($5.5 million).
The standard version was released in 1963 and had a top speed of 145 mph (233 kph), but fictional MI6 agent James Bond’s version sported special equipment, including bulletproof shields and retractable machine guns. It is closely associated with the Sean Connery era in the famous film franchise.
