LOS ANGELES (AP) - Jurors in the Anna Nicole Smith drug conspiracy trial received answers Thursday to their questions about two charges against Smith’s boyfriend-lawyer Howard K. Stern and were continued their deliberations.
The jury, in its third day of deliberations, wanted to know how Stern, who is not a doctor, could be found guilty of unlawfully prescribing drugs to the former Playboy model.
The panel was told that if they find either Dr. Sandeep Kapoor or Dr. Khristine Eroshevich guilty of prescribing drugs unlawfully, they may then consider whether Stern aided and abetted them.
Jury instructions say a person who aids and abets is equally guilty of a crime.
The defendants have pleaded not guilty. They are not charged in Smith’s 2007 overdose death.
