THE GADGET: About two years after the arrival of the first smart phone running Google’s Android operating software, HTC’s G1, T-Mobile introduced a new version called the G2.
THE DETAILS: At 6.5 ounces, the G2 is hefty. It has a QWERTY keyboard that slides out from its side and a touch screen that measures 3.7 inches diagonally, and it runs the latest Android software. It works over T-Mobile’s 3G network and its new, faster HSPA+ network, which is basically a souped-up version of the current 3G.
THE BOTTOM LINE: The G2 isn’t a game-changer, but it’s an excellent follow-up to the G1.
