DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Tigers and shortstop Jhonny Peralta have agreed on a two-year contract with a club option for 2013.
The team announced the deal Monday. The Tigers did not release financial terms, but a person familiar with the contract said Sunday the two-year deal was worth $11.25 million. The person spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press at the time because the deal hadn’t been announced.
Peralta was acquired from Cleveland in July. He was shifted from third base to shortstop by Detroit and hit .253 with eight home runs in 57 games with the Tigers.
His return means the Tigers’ left side of the infield remains intact. Third baseman Brandon Inge signed a two-year deal last month.
