DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Tigers and shortstop Jhonny Peralta agreed Monday on an $11.25 million, two-year contract with a club option for 2013.

Peralta gets $5.25 million next year and $5.5 million in 2012. The Tigers have a $6 million team option for 2013 with a $500,000 buyout.

Peralta was acquired from Cleveland in July. He was shifted from third base to shortstop by Detroit and hit .253 with eight home runs in 57 games with the Tigers.

His return means the Tigers’ left side of the infield remains intact. Third baseman Brandon Inge signed a two-year deal last month.
