BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - In calling Terrence Pegula “a great guy,” Buffalo Sabres minority owner Larry Quinn has declined to confirm a report that the Pennsylvania billionaire is interested in buying the NHL franchise.
Quinn says he’s adopted a policy to not comment on reports of prospective buyers because the team has received offers to sell in the past. Though the Sabres are not formally up for sale, Quinn didn’t rule out the possibility of majority owner Tom Golisano one day selling the team.
The Buffalo News cited unnamed sources in reporting Tuesday that Pegula is a serious candidate to buy the Sabres.
Quinn would say that he’s known Pegula for some time.
A message left on a number listed for Pegula was not returned.
