It strikes me that North Korea and Iran endanger their existence by attempting to make nuclear weapons, even if they never use them. What if a terrorist sets off a nuclear device in New York City or Washington? The American people will demand a retaliatory attack. But where?

We probably will not know where the bomb came from. Suspicion will fall on the most obnoxious and uncooperative regimes pursuing nuclear capabilities, which would be Iran and North Korea. As one old enough to remember the post-Pearl Harbor mood that led to the internment of the Japanese-Americans, I believe severe retaliation would be unleashed on at least one of these nations that dabble in nuclear technology.
