THURSDAY:

No. 17 Texas A&M (8-3, 5-2 Big 12) vs Texas (5-6, 2-5), 8 p.m. (ESPN).

Line: Texas A&M by 3.

Series Record: Texas 75-36-5.

Last Meeting: 2009, Texas 49-39.

WHAT’S AT STAKE

Texas A&M still has an outside shot at the Big 12 South title and can earn big bragging rights by piling another loss onto a miserable season for their biggest rival. Texas is desperate to get a sixth win to qualify for a bowl. The Longhorns played for the national championship last season and have been embarrassed by the fall.

KEY MATCHUP

Texas’ patchwork offensive line vs. Aggies DE Von Miller. Miller is one of the top pass rushers in the Big 12 and could make the game a nightmare for Texas quarterback Garrett Gilbert.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Texas A&M: WR Jeff Fuller: Big, strong receivers are having big days against the Texas secondary this season. Fuller may be the biggest and strongest to face the Longhorns yet, and has great hands.

Texas: Gilbert. The last game of the season is now the biggest of the youngster’s career. Texas hasn’t had a losing season since 1997 and Gilbert, the guy who followed Colt McCoy, who followed Vince Young, is under tremendous pressure not to let it happen under his watch.

FACTS AND FIGURES

The Aggies are favored but typically don’t fare well in Austin. A&M is just 11-46-1 there. … A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill is 4-0 since taking over as starter. The last Aggies quarterback to win his first four starts was Corey Pullig in 1992 … Even if they win and become eligible for a bowl, Texas cannot finish better than last in the Big 12 South.
