ARLINGTON, TEXAS (AP) - The Texas Rangers have hired Thad Bosley as their hitting coach.

Bosley replaces Clint Hurdle, who left the AL champion Rangers after one season to become manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Texas announced Bosley’s hiring Tuesday. Bosley is a former hitting instructor for the Oakland Athletics, where he was on the same staff with Rangers manager Ron Washington.

When the Rangers were searching for Rudy Jaramillo’s replacement last offseason, Bosley also was a finalist before Hurdle got the job.
