JACKSONVILLE, FLA. (AP) - Mike Thomas’ jersey and gloves are headed to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame plans to put Thomas’ apparel and the ball he caught on the “Hail Mary” pass from David Garrard on display in Canton, Ohio.
Thomas caught a 50-yard pass from Garrard on the final play Sunday to beat Houston 31-24. Making the play even more improbable, Texans cornerback Glover Quin batted the ball right into Thomas’ hands near the goal line. It was the fourth regular-season game in NFL history to end on a TD pass of 50 yards or more.
Until now, the Jaguars haven’t had any apparel on display in the Hall of Fame. The 16-year-old franchise had a couple of footballs, including the one from their inaugural game in 1995, sent to the Hall of Fame.
