CLEVELAND (AP) - The Cleveland Indians have re-signed free agent pitcher Anthony Reyes to a minor-league contract.
Reyes spent most of last season building up arm strength after undergoing elbow reconstruction surgery in 2009. He made just five starts for Cleveland’s rookie team in Arizona and Double-A Akron.
The 29-year-old spent September working on his mechanics and delivery and then pitched well enough in the Fall League for the Indians to bring him back.
Acquired in a 2008 trade with St. Louis, Reyes is 13-26 in 52 major league starts. He’s 3-2 in 14 career starts for the Indians.
