WASHINGTON (AP) — Amtrak and Maryland transportation officials are meeting with riders following a rash of problems with MARC train service.
Maryland transportation Secretary Beverley Swaim-Staley and Amtrak CEO Joseph Boardman will hear from riders Wednesday afternoon at Union Station during a special “Meet the MARC Managers” event.
Earlier this week a train from Washington to Baltimore skipped a scheduled stop at Odenton. Swaim-Staley says she has contacted senior management for Amtrak, which operates and maintains MARC, to demand a full accounting. The incident came a week after passengers on the same train were stranded for hours in 90-degree temperatures.
Amtrak has apologized for both incidents and Boardman visited the Odenton station on Tuesday to talk to riders.
