KANSAS CITY, MO. (AP) - The Kansas City Royals have placed outfielder David DeJesus on the 15-day disabled list and recalled outfielder Alex Gordon from Triple-A Omaha.
DeJesus sprained his right thumb crashing into the fence in center field on Thursday night in Yankee Stadium, a play that resulted in an inside-the-park home run for Derek Jeter.
Gordon, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2005 draft, has been converted from third base to the outfield. Gordon is expected to be in uniform for Friday night’s game in New York against the Yankees.
