CARNOUSTIE, SCOTLAND (AP) - American Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin shot a second straight 2-under 69 Friday to share the second-round lead with Bernhard Langer of Germany after the second round of the Senior British Open.

Pavin was on pace for an even better round before finishing with a double bogey at the 18th after hitting his second shot out of bounds.

Pavin and Langer (71) have 4-under totals of 138 to sit one shot clear of a quartet that includes Ian Woosnam and Jay Haas.

CARNOUSTIE, Scotland (AP) _ Corey Pavin has grabbed the early second-day lead at the Senior British Open after shooting a second straight 69 to reach 4 under.

The 50-year-old American Ryder Cup captain was left to regret one shot at Carnoustie’s infamous 18th hole that cost him dearly.

A brilliant birdie at the 232-yard, par-3 16th, where he hit a five wood to 10 foot, lifted Pavin to 6 under and a three-shot lead. But when he drew the club again from his bag to attempt a 220-yard approach to the final green, he pulled the shot out of bounds. And while he nearly sank a 45-foot putt with his second ball, he had to settle for a double bogey.
