In a Friday Commentary column, Deroy Murdock quoted the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) as saying that the Tea Party would “push our country back to the pre-civil rights era” (“NAACP has forgotten what a racist is,” Opinion). Actually, it is the Democratic Party with its socialist agenda that would push the country all the way back to the plantation and slavery era.

Socialism is like a gigantic plantation system, with the government owning and controlling everything. Besides the numerous regulations that control so many aspects of our lives, the government already controls the economy and debt, medical care, millions of jobs, retirement, the majority of home mortgages, college loans, two automobile manufacturers, several banks and more.

It is bewildering that the NAACP, which supposedly represents the interests of many descendants of those who were slaves on plantations, supports the Democrats, who seem bent on establishing a socialist government in this country. It is equally bewildering that many blacks support the NAACP and vote for Democrats, who would take them, along with the rest of the country, into government-imposed slavery.
