MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Timberwolves made Darko Milicic (MILL’-uh-chich) feel wanted for the first time in his disappointing career.
Their faith and a four-year contract were enough to persuade Milicic to keep playing in the NBA instead of returning to his native Serbia.
Milicic met the Minnesota media Friday at the team’s practice facility, his first appearance since re-signing with the Timberwolves for roughly $16 million.
He says he’s happy for the opportunity and eager to show the league the skills that led the Detroit Pistons to pick him second overall in the 2003 draft.
Timberwolves president of basketball operations David Kahn says he believes Milicic came to the NBA too soon. Milicic says it was a better decision than returning to his league in Serbia.
