BALTIMORE (AP) — Michael Phelps will be sharing his swimming skills with public school students in his native Baltimore.
Phelps will give a swim lesson to children Wednesday as he launches a partnership between the Michael Phelps Swim School and city schools.
The program will allow 60 middle school-aged children to take up to 20 hours of swim lessons from Phelps’ school. The school will provide one instructor for every six students during the lessons, which are open to students in the city’s summer learning program.
Phelps, a 14-time Olympic gold medalist, launched his swim school last year. The school aims to get kids more comfortable in the water and teach basic swim safety. It’s one of Phelps’ efforts to make swimming more popular.
