ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — A statue of former President Ronald Reagan could be coming soon to Reagan’s namesake airport just across the Potomac River from Washington.
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation has inked a deal with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, which operates Ronald Reagan Washington National and Washington Dulles International airports, to install the bronze statue of Reagan on a triangle of land in front of Terminal A at the airport.
The foundation hopes to dedicate the statue in the fall of 2011. Authority staff estimates that the project, not including the statue, will cost $445,000. The authority would pay about $80,000 of that amount.
As of last week, the foundation still was selecting a statue.
