FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — City officials in Frederick are urging drivers and pedestrians to use caution due to a water main break in the downtown area.

The Department of Public Works said Thursday that the leak is near the intersection of Jefferson and West Patrick streets.

The agency says temporary traffic controls are in effect and intermittent water service disruptions are expected as crews try to find and repair the leak.

Officials also say cold temperatures could cause ice to form on streets and sidewalks, so they’re asking residents to avoid the area.
