BEREA, OHIO (AP) - Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Colt McCoy says his sprained left ankle is “coming” along and responding well to treatment. McCoy was injured on Nov. 21 at Jacksonville in his fifth consecutive start.
He missed last week’s game against Carolina and has not practiced since getting hurt. There’s a chance he will be Cleveland’s No. 3 quarterback this week in Miami.
Jake Delhomme, who lost his starting job because of an ankle injury, will start against the Dolphins (6-5).
McCoy said Friday that he will be re-evaluated on Monday. He had not spoken to reporters and said he has “been in the tank” since being injured.
Delhomme recently acknowledged that McCoy is Cleveland’s future quarterback, but the third-round pick says he still has a lot to learn. In what’s been a three-pronged, quarterback attack this season _ between McCoy, Delhomme and Seneca Wallace _ the rookie leads the Browns (4-7) with 975 yard passing.
