EDEN PRAIRIE, MINN. (AP) - Brett Favre must receive medical clearance to play in Minnesota’s final game.
But rookie quarterback Joe Webb sure passed the test in his first career start for the Vikings.
While Favre watched from the sideline because of post-concussion symptoms, Webb helped Minnesota upset playoff-bound Philadelphia Tuesday. He completed 17 of 26 passes for 195 yards and also ran for a touchdown against the Eagles, without any turnovers.
Vikings interim coach Leslie Frazier says Favre still gives the team the best chance to beat Detroit and will start if he’s healthy enough to play Sunday. But Frazier also praises Webb’s poise and says he has the full confidence of his teammates if he’s slated to start against the Lions.
