PITTSBURGH (AP) - Sidney Crosby extended his point streak to 25 games with a power-play goal in the first period of Pittsburgh’s 6-3 win against Atlanta on Tuesday night.
The Penguins captain passed the puck from along the right-wing boards to defenseman Kris Letang between the circles, then took Letang’s giveback to score while dropping to a knee, 10:34 into the game.
Crosby added another goal in the first period, giving him 32 this season. He has at least one goal in five consecutive games and 26 during his streak, which began Nov. 5 in Anaheim.
Crosby’s streak ties him with four others who also had 25-game streaks. Mario Lemieux has the team record with a 46-game streak in 1989-90.
Wayne Gretzky owns the NHL record with a 51-game streak in 1983-84.
