DENVER (AP) - Nuggets coach George Karl said Carmelo Anthony will not play Tuesday night against the Portland Trail Blazers following the funeral for his sister.
Karl said general manager Masai Ujiri told him late in the afternoon that Anthony was unavailable and his status for Wednesday’s game against Minnesota is unknown.
“Masai texted me today he won’t play,” Karl said. “I don’t know about tomorrow.”
Anthony has missed three games after Michelle Anthony died last week of a pre-existing medical condition in Baltimore. Her funeral was Monday.
The Nuggets are 0-3 in Anthony’s absence. He is averaging 24 points and 8.3 rebounds.
Forward Al Harrington will sit out the next two games with a dislocated right thumb. He was injured in Sunday’s loss to Philadelphia.
